Sealants
12.5% of all tooth surface is on the top (occlusal surface) of the tooth. Occlusal surfaces develop 2/3’s of the total cavities in the teeth of children. One way to help prevent cavities from forming is to seal the teeth.

Many teeth have deep invaginations in them that are too narrow for the bristles of a tooth brush to access.
Therefore, placing a dental sealant into the grooves prevents bacteria from getting in and causing a cavity.
